What data we process and why
Browsing data
Like any web server, the server hosting the website automatically logs the IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the browser and the referring page. We use them only to keep the website secure and working, to prevent abuse and to produce aggregate statistics on its use. Legal basis: legitimate interest of the controller (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Retention: 12 months, unless needed to investigate offences.
Requests sent through the contact form or by email
Name, email, phone, company and the content of your message are used to reply to you and, if you ask, to prepare a quote. Legal basis: pre-contractual steps taken at your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Retention: 24 months from the last contact, or for the duration of the relationship if you become a client and for the periods required by law for accounting records.
Contacts via WhatsApp or phone
If you call us or message us on WhatsApp from the buttons on the website, we process your number and the content of the conversation only to reply to you, with the same legal basis and retention periods as requests sent through the form. You can edit or delete the pre-filled WhatsApp message before sending it. WhatsApp is a service of WhatsApp Ireland Limited, which processes data as an independent controller under its own policy (whatsapp.com/legal).
Statistics (Google Analytics 4)
Only with your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 by Google Ireland Limited to understand, in aggregate form, how the website is used: pages viewed, traffic sources, devices. We have disabled Google signals and ad personalisation; we do not use the data for advertising or profiling. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time from the “Cookie preferences” button at the bottom left of every page or in the footer. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States, which participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (European Commission adequacy decision of 10 July 2023). Analytics data retention: 14 months. Details in the Cookie policy.
Who can see the data
- Maingage staff authorised to process it.
- The provider of the server hosting the website and the email service provider, appointed as processors (Art. 28 GDPR).
- WhatsApp Ireland Limited, as an independent controller, only if you choose to contact us on WhatsApp.
- Google Ireland Limited, for statistics, only if you give your consent.
- Public authorities, when required by law.
We do not sell or pass on data to third parties for commercial purposes.
Mandatory and optional data
Browsing data is needed for the website to work. In the contact form, name, email and message are needed to reply to you; the other fields are optional.
Your rights
At any time you can request access to your data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interest (Articles 15-22 GDPR). You can withdraw your consent to statistics without affecting earlier processing. Write to info@maingage.com: we reply within one month.
If you believe the processing breaches the GDPR, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it), or with the authority of the EU country where you live or work.
Security
The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Contact form data is stored on a protected server and accessible only to authorised staff. We do not make automated decisions or carry out profiling.
